Well there are lots of things to consider at this point. But first of all, a fever means that your body is fighting off an infection, its a good thing, its trying to protect your body. I would try taking two tyenol, and make an appointment for the doctors the next day, just to make sure everything is okay. You might just have the flu, and it could have nothing to do with your period. However, if you have unbearable cramping, and the fever gets worse despite taking the tyenol, then I would consider going to the hospital. But it is your choice....

I've heard some women say that when they are ovulating they feel they are a few degrees warmer than usual, and that when they are having their period they also feel a few degrees warmer, so if you have been going up every month consistantly by two degrees or so and are not experiencing any other symptoms of illness or infection, I wouldn't worry about it. The exception is if you are using a tampon, if that is the case take the tampon out immediately and call a doctor.
If you are also feeling dizzy or have a headache, or your fever is very high, or you suddenly got a fever this one time and/or last month but have never noticed it before, go to see a doctor as soon as possible, as in tonight. If you are using tampons, you should definitely be very careful about ANY fever, because fever is an early sign of toxic shock syndrome. Read the instructions that came with the tampons for more infor on TSS, it is an infection sometimes caused by tampons that can be deadly (I don't want to scare you, it's pretty rare, but worth keeping an eye out for).
If you get a fever or a headache or feel dizzy at all when you wear tampons every month, even if you don't get full-blown TSS (for which you would have to be treated at a hospital), you should switch to a safer form of blood collection. I used to get a headache every month when I had my period, and I realized that I only got it on days that I wore tampons, even if I changed them every few hours. I now use the Diva Cup, a silicone cup that catches blood instead of absorbing it, and the headaches have totally stopped. It's definitely worth checking out!

When I was in my 20s, I would get flu like symptoms while on my period and would be in bed for 2 days straight--at least. I would have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and horrible cramps. And I did NOT use tampons! I hated those things and they never worked for me. So, it wasn't due to that. My doctors never found out until I had my hysterectomy 10 years ago what was causing this. I found out that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovearian Syndrome). It didn't help that my left ovary was attached to my colon either! I am not saying that this is what is wrong with you or that is what is causing this as what happened to me with the ovary is very rare. I am saying, however, that having a fever during your period may not be as unusual as a lot of people think. I really wouldn't worry about it unless it is a really high fever and or you are using tampons and leaving them in for too long, causing the sickness that doing that can cause.

This is abnormal. The last time anyone was sick was when there was a tampon that was causing flu like symptoms. They were called O.B. Needless to say they pulled them off the shelf. There is a syndom when you have fever during your period. Best see your doctor.
