What do you think? Seems to me that his Dad's fans just joined the Jr. bandwagon, instead of earning his own fans. I seriouly get tired of hearing and seeing Jr. everywhere. It's all because of who his Dad is. The past 2 years have proven that he isn't the NASCAR God that everyone thinks he is.

I heard that Dale Jr was a "teabaggin wanker" and lacks the GUTS to put it in the wall like his "ole man" ....

I agree with you to an extent. A lot of Jr.'s fans were fans of his father and you do hear a lot about him because of his last name. But Jr has proven that he has the talent to be in NASCAR, I mean look at his Rookie season. If you look back he really hasn't done that well since his father was killed. Sure he might be stuck in rut right now but he will bounce back. Every driver goes through that at some point in their career. Look at Kasey Kahne he was on roll during his first year and then last year he had a bad season, but this year he's bounced right back. Just give Jr. some time and I'm sure we'll see that same driver we saw during his Rookie year.

maybe some of the people who was dale sr fans went to dale jr. dale jr made a name for himself by winning 2 busch championship back to back. he is a good driver and seems to be one of the more down to earth guys in nascar. his dad may have helped him a little bit, but isn't that what parents are for? it was his own doing that got him where he is today. if he is so popular because of his dad name (earnhardt) wouldn't his brother kerry be as popular? he is popular because he is a good driver and a good guy. i don't think he is a god, and i been a dale jr fan since he ran busch. go DEI

He might not be. But what kind of question is that, honestly?? I like Junior & it's not b/c of his dad. I like him b/c he's a good driver. He doesn't drive drity & when he makes a mistake he takes blame for it & apologizes. He is a good racer & just seems like a really nice guy! I DIDN'T JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON! I really like him & even if he never has the amount of success that he did in 2004, I'll still like him just as much. Some people just like a driver b/c they win, then if the driver has a rough season then they don't like him anymore. That isn't me. As for seeing Junior stuff every where..............deal with it! I have Junior stuff! :) I get tired of seeing Jeff Gordon stuff, but I'm not complaining about it! So, he's having a little bit of a rough time, EVERY DRIVER DOES AT SOME POINT!!!!!!!! I still like him. Just b/c he's not winning all of time isn't going to make me stop liking him! So if he had a different last name he might not be as popular. But his name is Earnhardt and you can't change that, nor can you change people liking him. Have you ever thought that other people might like Junior for the same reasons I do & not just b/c of who he is? Think about it.

In some ways i feel like Jr. is just riding on his dad's coat tail but in some ways I feel like people would also love him no matter what his last name. Jr. has talent but sometime it gets over looked because of his last name. I know that probably don't make much since to some.

I am with you that he wouldn't be as popular if his Dad wasn't DE. When I first started watching him race I thought "Oh Daddy's boy...". I have watched him race though and seen some pretty impressive driving. If you listen to his interviews he also seems like a pretty "down to Earth" guy. I have changed my view on him and think he's ok now. I have to say that Jeff Gordon is better but I now have another driver to cheer for. I hope that someday DJ will push Tony Stewart into the wall like he does everyone else.

Yep, he'd still be.

I was a nascar fan when I was younger, but not that much of one. I become more "hardcore" when Dale Jr. was a rookie. He impressed me with his win at Texas, and the All-Star thing.

being the son of the greatest race car driver that ever lived helped open a lot of doors for jr, but a famous name will only take you so far.there was a lot of pressure on jr to live up to his famous last name. you see a lot of fans wearing #8 hats,t-shirts,jackets,etc. so he must be doing something right.

Jr. is an all around nice guy and one heck of a driver. I would still be his fan even if he didn't have the Earnhart last name.
