When buying turtles you should have all the equipment to care for them, a tank (1 gal for each inch of shell) and depending on the type of turtle you will need water. Some need water up to the top of the tank, some need 1/2 some need just a small area.
Also, you need a basking lamp and you need a UVA/UVB bulb (to mimick the sun in nature). Turtles eat pellets (bought at pet store), veggies and can have fish occasionally too. I advise you to visit http://turtleexchange.smfforfree.com to get all the info you need on caring, feeding and troubleshooting with a turtle. Good luck! :)

Put some water out in a dish that the Turtle can crawl into and drink and also lay, they like water. also, the eat lettuce, canned corn, any vegetables. Give that Turtle time, He will eat soon. the in the winter place him a big thing of dirt, because they crawl in that dirt and go way down, you won't see him. He is Hibernating, I think, read more up on it on Google to.

Turtles eat in the water. You have to have water deep enough for it to swim in. You can get turtle food at anyplace that sells fish food. Painted turtles will eat raw hamburger too.

on the initiating, the water would desire to be shallow sufficient, a minimum of in one place, that they'd stand on the backside and stick their nostrils out of the water. you elect no sand or gravel. super rocks are high quality in the event that they are good; a sliding rock can pin slightly one turtle below water. they choose a place to get out of the water to bask. infant turtles are greater carnivorous than adults. some human beings upload minnows to the tank and enable them to forage for themselves. Liver is likewise solid, in case you decrease it into strips that they'd look after. Earthworms are super once you will get them. because of fact the turtles become older, you may start introducing green, leafy vegetables to their nutrition regimen.

Hello, I know they like leafy vegetables. You can find books at your local library on different kinds of turtles too. Most important note is : WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER HANDLING THE TURTLE, THEY DO CARRY SALMONELLA. It can be transferred to people who do not wash their hands after handling the turtle and then eat.
