My brother and my boyfriend's brother got into a fight and I sided with my boyfriend's brother because I felt that he was right. I got into the physicality of the fight and knocked my brother out. Everyone in my family that doesn't know about how the fight started is so angry with me, they refuse to talk to me. What would any of you done in that situation??

My brother hit me first. I hit him back out of self defense. I didn't start anything.

Are you kidding? Your boyfriend is closer to you than your brother, that is entirely normal. I don't know what the fight was about, but I suppose your bf sided with his brother and you were torn between him and your own brother. If your brother is stupid*, why not kick* his bum*? Your family should accept that, and if they don't, why not invite them over for a family dinner and spike their drinks with something quite horrid*?

* sorry, I need to watch my language on here, hence my *****-speak

When people fight, others right away want to take sides. Your family is going to side with your brother no matter what. It's always best to stay out of other people's fights, you know first hand what can happen and the problems it can cause. I would of stayed neutral and told them both I am not going to get involved and don't try to drag me into it. It's not my battle to fight.
