i would like to rent a car to get there and fly home so i could take a more leisurely trip. what is the most economical way to do this.

I don't know but wave when you go by. There is a Route 66 Museum here in Missouri near Six Flags over Midamerica. I'm sure there are a lot of them but here isa link.

get real good maps first because 66 is mostly interstate try this route66/great American road.com i think that's right and you should bring a couple of friends to help share the expense

Why don't you plan a tour to Bhutan instead hang up with car. Bhutan is very nice palce for tourist like us. Please I recommend this my friend site: www.tourism-bhutan.com this is really nice country to do tour.
