Earth worm is called friend of farmers. It burrows the soil by engulfing the organic materials and soil particles. It decomposes the organic material present in the soil. The plant nutrients present in these organic materials are liberated (mineralised) in the soil for the use of plants. The earth worm improves the macropores in the soil. Thus, it improves the aeration. It reduces the BOD and COD of the soil. The soil with god aeration is good for crop growth. The macropores developed by the earthworm facilitate the proliferation of crop roots. In total the soil fertility is improved.

By burrowing in the earth, it lets air into the soil, down to the roots, and helps plants grow.

it is said nothing would live on this planet without the lowly earth worm, it makes holes in the ground so rain can get to the roots of plants, it eats soil , breaking it down in to more usable mineral elements for plants to use,

I guess it means when earth worms defecate in your soil it becomes richer with things(like nutrients) plants need so it'd be great for your plants to be grown in soil with worm feces.

They aereate (sp?) the soil by their movements (little worm tunnels). They also fertilize the soil with their feces. They are VERY good for gardens.
