True individualists seldom bother with trying to look like they're individualists.
You'll recognize them, if you recognize them at all, by their actions, their words, their original perceptions or their creativity or a combination of all these.
Individualists don't have to be geniuses or intellectuals, although many are (Stephen Hawkin). Some are simply loners or people who simply chose to live their life by their own standards and belief systems.

Thats a tough a question it depends on whether you believe in the idea of individualism. I myself believe like Emerson, and many of the other existentialists that we are all individuals in that everyone is ultimatlely alone. Sure, we can have companionship, but the ultimate reality is that no one other than yourself can really know who you are. We are born into this world alone and we all die alone. Some may argue their belief in soulmates or even they bring God into the picture, but it still doesn't change the fact that no one can ever know another person 100%, in fact most people don't know themselves completely. And you can argue that God knows us 100% percent, but that itsn't true because we have free will, we can go against God. You maybe wondering what being alone has to do with individualism, and I'm saying that it has everything to do with individiualism in that their are one of the same. If a person is alone, then they are an individual, if you agree to that Martin Luther King or Mahatma Gahnhi were individuals, which is the consensus of most people you see that these men were alone, they spent their lives sharing their truths to the world, and it had a great influence on others to join their cause. So, My answer to your question is that everyone is an individualist, but you judge other people in their need conform to established norms, but ulitimately those people do have thier own thoughts it just gets masked by the views of others.

Well, in this smaller town some may consider me eccentric because I don't give a rats rear for the prevailing status quo nor for the popular "white bread" culture. However I am a human just like everyone else and share the same qualities. My life experience has been different than that of many others. It just takes all kinds of people to make the world!

You are just an old jealous poop head because we are unique, one of a kind, different, go our own way.
But there is a solution. You too can be different.
Just go to Hot Topic in the mall and get really different clothes. Then get the book, "How To Be Really Different Like Me."
Be careful what you wish. Jeffrey Dahmer was different, a lot different from a marine. Wait a minute, I just heard something about a nut case going off in Iraq.
It is really difficult to escape our cultural and genetic heritage. How different will satisfy you?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean but individualist, but if it's what I think you're saying, I'm quite the indifferent one. I tend to keep to myself, therefore noone is really like me. For example, most people would rather have relationships and be cared for, while I'd rather be alone, with self-efficiancy.
In an overall view, noone is really different from anyone else, it's all a matter of perspective. What are you really looking at in a person? What they're "like"? or what you think they're like.

There's no such thing as a person who is trully unique. All people have things in common with other people, somehow, somewhere. Some have more in common than others.
Even if all people just do whatever they want, without thinking about the actions of others, similarities will still occur, just by chance and because of the fact that we're all still human.

I think we all are...individuals..that is....even the lambs following the flock...they are just supressing their true selves...who knows maybe listening to that little voice will gain popularity and be... "in"..one day...one day...That said ...we are all part of one subculture or another..being true to one's self is still important.

individualists look like you and me and seem normal, but there ideals are nothing like the normal crowd. you cant be an indivualist in your dress style because its all been thought of already.
