you shoud have joined a camp over the summer. Some of the kids in you community might have attended the camp as well. And then you'd have people you knew. Going to a new grade is a chance to transform. In this grade there will be different kids, different opportunities to make friends, and be more social. I know it's hard because I'm kinda shy at first, and it takes a while for me to open up, but don't try and be something you're not. Being popular isn't all there is to the 8th grade or for highschool. Being yourself is what's most important. And if you are not satisfied with your appearance or personality, get a makeover. Clothes that you feel pretty and comfortable will always boost your confidence. Talk more. Make friends.

Trust me, 8th grade is not what it's all about.

Be yourself and don't "try" to act cool. People can see right through that. Be out going and friendly. Whatever you do don't ever make fun of or tease anyone. Honestly, when you get older all of this won't matter, so don't sweat it. Besides you'll be in high school next year and all the popular kids this year will be no bodys next year. Just have fun and make the most of it before you go off to high school. Good Luck!

OK one question is, what type of popular do you want to be? Last year i was popular because EVERYONE knew me and liked me, but now I'm kinda both where the "popular" people like me and don't mind actually hanging out with me. All i did was lose my glasses, bought clothes from the "popular" stores (hollister, American eagle, PAC sun, abercrombie, etc.) also, i changed my style a little. This all happened to me in 8th grade now and I'm a freshmen so since people know me more I'm gonna be a little better off i think.Including my appearance changes, i changed how i acted. I'm now more open to people instead of shy.i also like attention but don't HAVE to be in the spotlight. one piece of advice is, don't forget your first friends, spend sometime with them even if they aren't the coolest people ever, and be nice to everyone not just your future bff's!

I'm going to 8th grade too. Me i'm myself and people love me for that.I speak my mind all the time! Everyone at my school really hates the populars..the punks are the funniest and coolest in our school! so just be yourself. And don't be shy say what you think but not to a teacher though lol. But if you want me to help you with this tranfermation hmmm..i'd believe ur a girl because girls would only care abt that..first eyeliner and mascara is the way to go..you dont need anything but that! cool clothes like from aeropostale and ae! and none of that really matter its all PERSONALITY! be funny lol. me and my friends were perverted and laff at krazii stupid things that are really retarded. wow this is hard..just work on your personality thats all!.

Being popular is not what you think...it will attract all the wrong crowd (which usually means you end up doing things you WILL regret) and scare away all the right people. Just remember....it is better to have one true friend who knows you and accepts you the way you are than to have a group of "popular" so-called friends who never get to know the REAL you.

there is no going from loser to popular. people are attracted (not necessarily physically, but interpersonally) to people who are confident. you have to understand that you as an individual have a lot to offer the world and that regardless how you compare to others, your value is equal to theirs. but that sounds boring, doesn't it?

if you are starting at a new school, start off simple. smile at people as they pass you in the halls so you seem approachable. compliment people, or better yet, if someone is wearing or has something you think is cool, ask them where they got it. people love to talk about themselves. stay positive - people who complain a lot, even without noticing, are a major turn off. and most of all, just have fun. it's only the 8th grade - you have your whole life to be popular...

cheers

First of all, popularity is not really that big of a deal. It's about who your true friends are. You need to be yourself so you can be happy as well. Most of the time the "popular" crowd is snobby and mean so why would you want to be like that.
Popularity is really over rated, it's just all about happiness!

Well, like other people said, be outgoing. And DONT say anything bad about anyone else. Just be nice to everyone, and stay on everyones good sides. But dont get too nice so you are like everyones little *****. lol. But if you are talking about looks, there isnt really alot anyone can say, because we dont know what you look like.
But when I went to a new school and didnt know anyone, I was just nice to everyone and was outgoing. Not too outgoing, liek an annoying loud mouth. But just dont be someone who sits in the corner and reads all the time. lol.
Just remember to BE NICE, BE OUTGOING, AND NEVER TALK BAD ABOUT ANYONE.
I think that's it.
haha
have fun

popularity is sooo over rated. Why would you want to be 'Popular'? Dont you just want to be your self and not care what other people think? Tell you what. I dont get a damn what anyone thinks of me and that is why i am happy with my standing at my school. In fact people come to ME and want to be like ME. Just think about it. Do you want to be a Follower or a leader?
