It doesn't make perfect sense, but it is a shade bit better than the previous rankng system. In July FIFA decided to only tabulate the previous 4 years of results instead of the previous 8. They also took out some minor factors into the equation as whether it was a home game and then something to do with goals scored I think. The new ranking system also balances out the fact that teams from weaker confederations (i.e. CONCACAF and AFC, OFC) won't be rewarded for regularly beating up on lesser opponents. UEFA and CONMEBOL and to a lesser extent CAF have much stronger teams in their confederations so sometimes they get penalized for playing a Scotland as opposed to a St. Kitts or American Samoa.

Thats totally wrong, italy won the cup yea, but they still aren't better then france, and argentina isn't better then france, the cup can't reinforce rankings because not every team verses eachother, italy would'nt have made it to the finals if they versed brazil

It's not perfect but it's better than the old ranking. I agree with the top 10 for the most part.

i don't understand why england and portugal are ranked higher than germany.
