my computer will freeze post with any cd drive pluged in to my ide?

it will post to my hdd without it ,but that dont do no good cause my hdd is empty and i cant install my os cd without a cd drive!!!

Install you HDD (Master) and your CD (Slave) drive on the same ribbon. It sounds like one of your IDE channels is bad. You board itself may be bad.

(IF* you have the CD drive plugged into the SAME RIBBON cable ad the Hard Drive you have to change the pins settings on the back to SLAVE, else it will lock up, not boot, etc...
