I'm not sure if he had them since I got him, 'cause I was scared of him the first couple days, but I've had him for 2 weeks now and they are not going away. A routine check costs $40 bucks - I can't afford it, unless he really needs it. There are two bumps, they feel like little firm balls under his skin and they are about 4-5 inches from his tail, half an inch appart. They haven't been moving. He's been eating fine. Anyone know what it means? He's my first snake, so it's hard for me to tell if he's acting normal or not. Thanks

it could be tumors...find a vet that knows quite a bit about snakes not all vets know about snakes...or it could be calcium deposits...anyway you look at it you need to bring the snake to a vet as soonas you can afford to. the sooner the better

It sounds like your snake could have a couple of ticks. You can get a snake from a shop that has ticks & if it was a wild capture,it's even more likely. They are easy to check for. Just look at your snake with a magnifying glass. The tick will be buried under the scales & can be a little hard to see, but you should be able to see it's(the ticks) legs. Just remove it with a pair of tweezers.& make sure you clean the cage completely to get rid of any tick eggs. By the way, when your snake is about to shed, it's eyes willturn a milky white and it's body will look like it has a hazy covering to it. The colors will be dull as compared to normal. I've never heard of a snake's belly turning pink before it sheds.

Go to see the vet, it could be a burn and it needs to be opened and drained, a cyst, a tumor, an infection, it can be a lot of things. When you have a sick snake you take him out of his tank and put him in a quarantine tank that is just paper towels, water bowl and hides. that way you can keep everything in check easier. Keep him there until the vet clears him. Then you have to sanitize his tank just in case. Very best thing you can do is take your snake to the vet.

i wouldnt worry about it. he probably just scratched himself on something inside the cage. their skin is still sensitive at that age. they should go down, but they might leave a scar.
oh and be careful to always change the bedding in the cage. my snake got a skin bacteria. the underbelly of him turned pinkish. (it turns pinkish when they are about to shed, but it goes away) if u see pink under there for a long time and he wont eat he will need a shot. DONT use cedar chips!!! use aspen only. or newspaper. (i like that the best)
oh and always make sure there is a bowl of warm water he can climb into in his cage. they like that.
oh dont put any sticks from outside or rocks from outside in his cage....get the ones at pets mart cause the ones from outside can have bugs or mites on them.
hope i helped a little.

It could be a majority of things (mites, fleas, bacterial infection). My advice to you is take him to a Vet that specializes in Herps. They are hard to find but a quick search on the net should prove helpful. You can also go to http://www.kingsnake.com for information. That is one of the best Herp websites out there. It could also be a blockage.

It could be anything from mites or ticks to a bone deformity. Take it to a reptile vet and have it checked. Why did you buy a snake you are afraid of?

He really needs it. Even if this ends up being nothing, it is not worth risking his life. This could be a lot of things, including tumors.

Take it to the vet. That's what it needs. If you can't afford a vet don't have a pet.
