I think its cause the new superman had no screen or acting presence and it also seemed that all he did was stare at louis lane and soak in in his own smug hunkadactalness also I thought Kevin spacey did a wonderful job but the ending was so gay I wanted to scream because I cant believe I spent 10:00 for that 3 hour dissapointment

I want to hear what everyone else thinks about there expierence

If you like superman then you like to see how he changes through time he dosent live forever ( christopher reeves) The new one instead of copying chris, he should of made his own persona with superman instead he made the movie stale and just a copycat I was hoping for fresh superness and that is to people who mention cowdungs and those people have assfaces

It was....weird. The other Superman movies were MUCH better. Besides, Brandon Routh spoke his lines like he was reading them from a teleprompter and I agree, he seemed to just stare at Lois Lane, who seemed way to high-and-mighty. And Superman was too full of himself. Yuk.

Ok to comment on the second park of the question, if the directer wanted him to be like christopher reeves then the actor could not go against what the director wanted. I think to honor Christopher Reeves memory they didn't try to change superman from him too much because he MADE superman so I don't think they would want to dervive away too much from hows Reeves made the character. Also- its Brandon Roth's first movie. I think he did an okay job for the script he was given. In my opinion he wasn't given too much to work with- his lines were dull and lackluster, I mean compared with all the other actors he didn't really get a lot of acting time... it was mostly flying or posing. but I think he did a good job with clark kent, because he had some funny scenes. but again thats just my opinon, like i said i think the script was kinda shitty.

I can't see a whole lot of similarities between Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh. The movie was awesome, I can't wait for the DVD. The ending could have been a little better, but maybe they'll make another one. Lois Lane could have been played by a different actress. And here's a question who would pay $10 to see a movie anyway.

The first Superman movies were way overrated. Superman Returns was awesome and he did a good job playing Clark Kent. What did you expect him to do be a confident jock type when he was Clark Kent??? By the way before I saw this movie I was a skeptic but now I'm converted. Can't wait for the next one!

Movie was way too long...the only thing that was fun to watch was the burning airplane scene at the beginning..u dont have to be a comic book fan to actually realized that this movie sucked @$$!

I felt that brandon routh did fine as superman.. he does resemble christopher reeve in certain manners that its somewhat kinda creepy..

lois lane however was terrible and UGLY!!!! they could have picked any actress in hollywood and they had to pick kate bossworth! ahhhhhhh!

kevin spacey was excellent!! lex lurther was original and cocky just like the first 2 original movie..great on his part!

i'm not a fan of bryan singer at all..storyline sucked, crappy 'end of the world theme' which doesn't make sense one bit (its so bryan singer to do this!!), and that kid being superman's son its absolute bull%^&%!

bad directing, bad script, bad storyline!!!

It is unfortunate that you felt that was the case. I on the other hand was completely and totally pleased with the film.

I felt Routh's grasp of both characters was exceptional and I also felt the way Singer paid homage to a number of elements from the first films was both respectful and rung of continuity.

The simple fact is there will always be people who have divergent and polarized points of view and that is what makes for interesting and healthy debate.
