It takes anywhere from 4-5 years (depending on the curriculum, any time you might spend doing a co-op [taking a semester off from school to work for a company as a trainee; at my school you would combine a semester you'd normally spend in school with the summer, so you'd spend 6-7 months working for the company], etc.) to obtain a bachelor's degree in engineering, which is the minimum you'll want to have to be eligible for most engineering jobs. A fraction of jobs require a master's degree, which (again, depending on the school, and whether it offers a combined bachelor's/master's program) would take another year or two beyond that.
One of the nicest things about studying engineering is that you really don't need more than a bachelor's degree to get a great job.
If you have the capacity for all that math (four semesters of calculus!), physics and chemistry, it's not a bad option!

yeah, your are minimum is 16! try getter your masters and stuff, you'll have a much better pay! because the base level pay for masters is higher then BA ( duh, but go for the extra years! its worth it)
