Do Not buy new machines! There are plenty of people on ebay and in your local classifieds that are trying to get rid of their machines. Can you make money in this business? Yes. Is it easy? Not really. Do you hire a locator? Heck no! Don't buy someone else's route unless they can provide very detailed records of their income from the machines. Do your homework and look for bargains on machines.By the way, you probably won't make $100 a machine per month. Expect $15 to 20$ if its a good location. And look into charities to associate with your candy machine.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

it's better to go hug a tree. i like trees, because i like salad and money. have you ever been to the amazon, i haven't? but it is like full of trees. maybe coconuts, too. so why would you want to be a vending machine, how random is that? i mean, it would make an original halloween costume, but besides that, why? WHY? WHY? WHY?

It is best to find someone with an established route and buy it from him. To start one on your own is difficult. You have to purchase machines and then find areas willing to let you place them.
