TOOTHPASTE! haha i know it sounds weird but it works well. Not gel just plain toothpaste. Put it on the acne (JUST the acne) and then sleep with it over night they shrink right up.

ok first off let me tell u i have been dealing with the same issue. and i tried alot of different things and when i tried too many things at once my skin got soo dried which led to more acne. but recently i found something that has cleared my acne and i currently only have like 1-2 pimples. ok so it is a mask u can make at home!, so here is what you do. You take 2 tablespoons of baking soda (NOT BAKING POWDER!) and 2 tablespoons of water. But if u want something more effective try 3% hydrogen peroxide. not anything higher at ALL it bleaches! Do this only once or twice a week NO MORE!!!!!! as it is very drying!!!!! leave on for an hour and wash off or before you go 2 bed open your pores with warm water, dry face, and then apply over the blemish and sleep with it on and wash it off in the morning. you should wash off using cold water to close the pores. now this might not work for everyone so no complaints if it doesn't work! Also although it is very affective only once week like i said!!!! you might want to apply an OIL FREE moisturizer afterward to keep skin nice and moist but not too much. and this only took me about 1 week or a little more 2 clear so goood luck! also keep up with your regular cleanser and routine! happy clearing! lol and good luck!

1) Wash your face with a mixture of Cetaphil (mild facial cleanser from drugstore) and baking soda. I have heard Cetaphil recommended countless times for being the best and cheapest. Baking soda is an exfoliant, which scrubs the top layer off of your pores and leaves them open to cleansing agents. The first thing you need to do is exfoliate. It is gentle enough to do every day.
2) Use hydrogen peroxide applied with a cotton ball, next. It kills the bacteria in the pores you have opened. Do this daily, after you cleanse.
3) Use witch hazel (from drugstore) to calm your skin. It is a mild astringent. It will help close the pores.
4) Once a week, use milk of magnesia (at drugstore) as a mask. Spread it on your face and let it dry. Then, rinse. It sucks all of the oil out and makes your skin tight (in a good way).
I got this (but summarized) from what I read once in the book, Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me. I have recommended it to many friends and it always worked. The whole month of treatment should cost about 15 dollars, tops!

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

1. Never go to bed with make-up
2. Don't pick your acne, but if you must, use a tissue to absorb oil and keep it from spreading on other parts of your face.
3. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and don't try to over dry your face. Your skin will over compensate with more oil and you will break out more.
4. Change pillow cases once a week or more to keep face off of oils from skin.
5. Try Zinc supplements (didn't work for me)
6. Never scrub your face. This irritates your skin and makes it worse.
7. Try a mild anitbacterial soap on your face and a light moisturizer for oily skin. Don't scrub, overdry, or aggravate your skin. Baby it. Many people make their acne worse by trying to overdry the face.
Not over the counter but it works...
"All Clear" skin care line by Beauticontrol. It is the only thing that has worked for me. I've been fighting acne for over 10 years. This stuff is the only thing that has worked.

If you have bumpy breakouts, it's probably from make-up and dirt clogging your pores.
A) Neutrogena blackhead removing scrub first, to clean gunk out of your pores.
B) Clean and clear antibacterial wash to keep bacteria from settling in and causing new breakouts.
C) If you have any open pimplies from squeezing, I recommend neosporin or a similar antibacterial medicine. that stuff is meant for cuts and scrapes but it kills infection and promotes healing and reduces scarring.
If you have deep cystic acne, you may find that antibiotics (or the herb Goldenseal) help to kill it from the inside. You have to take a lot but not more than 2 straight weeks.

kaolin clay masks. you can buy the clay at your local whole foods market or on the internet. Probably even ebay. Also some essential oils like Tea tree oil and lavender can help the skin as well. I would also increase my water intake, cut out bad food (anything with high fructose corn syrup or white flour in it). Stick to lots of fruits and vegetables. A little sun never hurt either.

Try making a paste out of baking soda and water. (The baking soda in toothpaste has the same effect, but it's very sticky and I personally don't like the feeling.) Just put a dot of it on your individual zits and leave it on for a while. They shrink DRAMATICALLY. Just don't move your face much or it will come off before it's ready. If it comes off just put some more on, no biggie. After you're done, just wash it off and BAM -- you're zit free! Best wishes.

Soak a wash cloth in steaming hot water(hot as faucet will go). Ring out. Hold over washed face for a few seconds. It opens up pores and steams them out. It really cleans up and prevents acne.

I heard toothpaste works well...
And supposedly Windex (questionable)
Also, avoid sugar as much as you can - I find that it just promotes acne. Good luck!
