I was looking for a good tim eand I met the nicest young lady you ever met. She was only trying to raise some money to support herself and mom. I have been sending her money just to keep her off the streets as much as possible. Is this the right thing to do?

If you don't expect anything in return. Then I guess it is okay. Just be careful that you are not being taken advantage of.
Did she explain why she is having financial problems? Is she making an effort to improve her situation? Like seeking legitimate employment?

I really don't know if it's the right thing to do or not. Can you be 100% sure that she is doing it to help support her mom, or is she trying to support a drug habit? I think it's great that you care enough to try and keep her off the streets, but you can't save everyone.

p.s. you'd be better off investing your money in a rubber doll. she won't eat, nag or run off and catch some disease. also, she's always ready and willing to please and you only have to give her air every once in a while. which won't break your budget since all you have to do is blow.
