Which came first - the chicken or the egg? "The chicken" came first - in the sentence of the question. If the question is phrased differently, the answer is different.

The chicken. I don't have to explain why because your question is stated as "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" and not as "what came first and why: the chicken or the egg?" So I get away scot free without having to justify my answer.

Why? first cause Go didnt magically create them one day.
Secondly, because thats how evolution works.
Some bird, very closely related to a chicken laid an egg. The embrio within the eg contained a genetic mutation that made it slightly different than the parent, and it was the first chicken.
So, the egg came first, cause that is where the mutation that created chickens took place.
