Bush was considered a moderate Republican, but he has acted too much like he's still a frat boy attached to the far right.

Dr. Bugly:
1. You have no authority here to say whose answer is null and void as you did not ask this question.
2. You're arrogance shows in your answers of attack by insinuating things you know nothing of, such as slandering me.
3. You cannot prove your IQ here, nor is it relevant here nor asked for.

The current Repubican administration is from the FAR right of their party, as evidenced by their own party members objecting to recent overreaching authority of the office of President.
Carl Rove and his right-wing press organization has made a big push to identify moderates as liberals. They have moved the perception of the middle over to the right in order to make themselves appear to be more in sync with the American public. This Presidency is all about perception.

Sorry so long (turned into a rant):
Yes it's horribly annoying. Not only are there Democratic moderates; there are moderate Republicans, etc.
To see the true nature and motives of a politician, I think one needs to observe the POLITICIAN rather than gazing into the reflection of the party he allegedly stands for.
Which means looking at Bush's behavior to decide the truth of his motives, rather than whether or not he is a "moderate Rep." And having gazed too long at his behavior I can't justify calling him a "moderate" anything.
The problematic stereotyping you describe can be understood if a person merely poles 10 "liberal Democrats" and asks their views on abortion. Most are for abortion, but several take the Republican stance of "right for life". Which brings the sweepingly general definition of "liberal Democrats" into question.
Pole 10 staunch and devoted Republicans and you'll find most are against illegal immigration, but several aren't (possibly because they have illegal Mexican maids). If you pole enough of these q's on each side, the accumulated conflicting opinions renders party labels nearly worthless.
People who are label crazy (like some of these self-proclaimed Republican radio talk show hosts) are taking advantage of a psychological tool: Every time they use the word "liberal" they are attempting to reinforce a clear "us against them" mentality to bolster their audiences' blind faith in their skewed belief system. But in the end it's less about party affiliation and labels, and more about human and political interest; ego gratification.

Because Republicans are trying to make the Democrats look like they are out of touch with everyday Americans. Democrats do the same thing when they say Republicans are too conservative for mainstream America. They are just trying to get moderate votes.

Leftist Liberals, Right-Wing Conservatives, people of a certain party attack those who hate them the most, that is how the game is played. Plus you can't make fun of moderates, because it takes all the wind out of stereotyping. No two moderates are the same.
