Like other Arab countries, they are very strick in preserving and protecting thier religion. They have designated places to drink wine and liqour (seaman"s club, hotels and disco's). You can also buy from MMI (Maritimr Mercantile Int'l.) or AE (African and Eastern), provided that you have a permit to purchase liqour. Don't mess it up with the ladies, they can easily put you in jail. There are places (except beaches), where wearing of revealing clothes are prohibited. Practice of religion is not that much strick. They have Roman Catholic church in Qatar like in Dubai, UAE. Avoid getting into trouble and respect their laws, culture and traditions and the police will not interfere. Qatar is a semi-open country. Before I forget, DO NOT TRY TO BRING IN ANY TYPE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS. Penalty is DEATH.
