Intake side, is for better air/fuel flow, and I assume the exhaust side is for the durability from the high heat stresses involved.

im pretty sure most new cars have a triple grind on the valves. my truck, a 95 S-10, has the good old fashioned push rod valve train. my bike on the other hand. '05 honda cr450f, has multi valve head. its fastest bike ive ever owned. puts the fear of God in me. and ive never been afraid of bikes. and the new cars have variable valve timing, so you get lotsa torque, mid range, and incredibile top end high RPM HP + great gas mileage.

If this is a test then you know that valves are each ground at two angles not one.
