It is a circle. One of the inherent properties of a circle is that it has the most area for a given perimeter of any shape.

It's all the same, and it can be represented mathematically...10 feet of wire makes a circle 10 feet in circumference.

Circ/Pi = Diameter/2 = r Pi x r squared = area

2.5 x 2.5 of same wire will give you area.

You do the math...I think I'm right...but too old to remember 9th grade math...

Which will hold more water a round one quart pitcher or a square one quart pitcher?
Same area. a circle will give you more distance from one side to the other, but you loose the corners. You pick up approximately 15% more distance from one side to the other with a circle. ALSO, it'll let your dog run faster along the fence.

if you had 100 inches of wire - a square would give you 625 sqin, a circle gives you ~795 ....
