Fairly often when I get up I get light headed and I cant see anything, all I see is a fuzzy black. Sometimes I even fall down because I can't keep myself up. What is the reason for this and is there a reason it can be more extreme sometimes (ie: falling down, etc) ?

I hear people say the get up fast thing, but it happens sometimes when I don't get up fast.

Are you eating regularly/healthy? If you are diabetic, you should check your blood glucose level, it may be too low. If the light-headed feeling persists, maybe try drinking some orange juice or eating some crackers and see if it diminishes. Try and pay attention to when this occurs, most importantly at how long after you have had your last meal. If you aren't diabetic, maybe talk to a doctor and get yourself checked out, it could be fatal if you are and don't know it.

Low blood pressure.
When you are in bed, laying in the bathtub, sofa and stand up fast you can have this blackness. Even when some people with low blood pressure pee they can feel dizzy too.
Try not to stand up fast. Sit first and wait a bit before you stand up.

Possibly orthostatic hypotension (blood pressure drops upon standing). Happens to me. Try to drink more water and decrease your salt intake. See a doc, better yet.

Here's more info on it:

It's a benign drop in the BP, and this question has been asked an innumerable number of times on here. I should have such 'problems.'

Could be an inner ear infection, could be blood sugar, could be a metabolic disorder, could be a brain tumor. Go to your doctor for God's sake.

I think that happens when you get up to fast.
