I hate these 'blow by blow' descriptions of children being molested. Do we 'need' these details or is it pure sensationalism? I am also sick of hearing 'f-ing this f-ing that' as it is only obviously the reference to the uck of the word and is a horrid example for 'everyday talk', likewise hearing the word whore and ***** is an insult to all women and I don't appreciate hearing it used over and over on Phil's program. What do you think?

both these shows and their formats are: useless.... dust...noise and in my opinion .... without any merit or value.

yes i think they contribute to all kinds of voyeurism and insults to people and all all around dishonoring and glorified Jerry springer shows! We do not need this sensationalism in the guise of personal development! Which it is not.

Well then turn them off! I don't watch that junk. You know how much the media exploits sex and sensationalism, and its not just Oprah and her good buddy Dr Phil. Of course, its all a big drive to make money, and just look how rich they and other talk show hosts are. Sex and violence is the focus just as it was in the days of the Roman empire. Outrage, blood and gore is what made people flock to the Coliseum to see the Christians thrown to the lions. Same affect, different century. I suppose the pedophiles get a vicarious kick out of aill the coverage they are getting, while Dr Phil, Oprah, et al laugh all the way to the bank.

I don't like Oprah or Phil. I think they're two over inflated ego's with too much money. I definately agree with you about all the ugly little details etc. That's why I choose not to watch TV very often. Most of TV now is crap. Sex violence and silly fluff, and these 2 shining examples of what's supposed to be intelligent viewing.I'd rather hear music or read a great book instead.

You got me thinking. Here is what I have so far.It is not necessarily the shows about perverse behavior that induce the ideas. What about letting them into ever day America to observe how life is in your typical home with the issues that face families today.Often these shows offer a view of the layout of a home and the people in it freely express the weak points of there family unit. These shows give everyone the information they need to do what they will. Not just the good people but everyone. These shows give bad people the ability to know you.Not the other way around.

I agree with you completely. While I don't know if their shows increase the number of pedophiles, I do think that their vivid descriptions do more damage than good. They do it because it sells advertising. I've only watched Oprah once and I turned it off. Whatever happened to decency?

Sometimes those shows are so redundant.
They are over-rated.
