My friend's boyfriend gave her a puppy as a gift last year. The couple is breaking up now and he claims that the dog is his because he paid for it. Who is right? Is there any law about this since he did give her the dog?

It was a gift.

But an engagement ring is different. Some state laws consider it a conditional gift.

Thre might be a law about it, but it's silly to spend a lot of money on lawyers and take it to court...... Dog custody case!
I think the dog should go to the person who he/she loves best and who is best able to care for him/her.
Just in case you need it the first listing here is a Website of a lawyer who specializes in dog law. The second one is about a cat custody suit last December, based on Dog Law.

If he gave it to her as a gift, then it belongs to her. If it's to be settled in small claims (just a nominal fee for filing, no attorneys needed), she should be able to demonstrate some sort of proof of ownership, i.e. receipts or credit card charges for vet bills, pet care items, etc. If a friend was present when he gave it to her (say, if it was a birthday gift), her friend's testimony would help, too.

Best of luck to your friend.

Why are procuring your housekeepers canines? in case you're purely 14 the courtroom won't grant you custody of a canines! in case you have a hectic schedule, then what makes you think of that in case you acquire momo, you are able to have time to safeguard him? you need to pay the housekeeper for him yet its no longer a sturdy thought, with the aid of fact you're 14!!!

Leagally speaking, if it was a true gift, then the dog is hers... as are all the vet expenses, food, responsibility, etc.
