It means that all humans make mistakes. And if we learn from them, all the better. If we don't, then shame on us. No one but God is perfect; every human makes mistakes. It's something we all have to learn to deal with in life.

Everyone else is right, but it specifically means that only humans have the capacity to make mistakes, because we have the ability to think about what we are going to do - or have done. A non-thinking being cannot make mistakes, it can only do whatever it does, and its not good nor bad, it just is.

Well, it seems pretty straight forward.... what defines it is the other half of the sentence, "... to forgive is divine."

Sweet and simple.... humans make mistakes, forgiving those mistakes, whether our own or others', is to step into the light.
