Bonham: bar none. His studio drum sound experiments were stuff of legend. Way ahead of his time in the 70s, his efforts led to hauntingly great drum work on many of Led Zepplin's rock icon hits.
It's been told as fact that a lot of Ringo Starr's drum work with The Beatles was cut out and overdubbed by bassist Paul McCartney himself....something that caused resentments between the two understandably.

On a pair of early Beatles tracks , Ringp could not get the drum rythm real so Paul Mc Cartney did the drums on the recording - hence John Lennon's quip - Ringo isn't even the ideal drummer in the Beatles. i think of that Charlie Watts grew to become right into slightly too laid lower back.

I am a Beatles fanatic and trust me even Beatle fans know that Ringo Starr was not considered a great drummer.

Ringo, John has been dead for 27 years.
Who was the better drummer would be a different question altogether.
