Call your local Agricultural extension. You can google the name of your county plus the words "Cooperative extension" to find it.They can recommend and sometimes even help with free resources for your property.

Also google "craigslist + your city + free trees" to get a listing of people in your area who are willing to sell or trade trees for cash, goods and/or services.

Contact Arborday.org as well--they have free trees for every growing area, often you pay only a minimal shipping charge.

Observe all areas of your property during different weather conditions such as rain and wind to see which trees would be best suited to each microclimate.

Ok well I am a huge tree expert...trust me.
I suggest you to buy or dig up some trees and plant them.
Trees will make a beautiful wooded area and will help clean the air.

Try to buy natural species, such as pines, oaks, maples, fir, spruce, hemlock, elm, and other big trees for forty acres of land, I am suggesting you to plant a tree for every 20 square meters.

Plant your trees in the fall or spring and make sure they get proper watering and fertilization...DO NOT PRUNE YOUR TREES - big, native trees like listed about aren't ment to be pruned.

GOOD LUCK...

p.s. if you live in dry/desert conditions, you migh consider planting cactuses and palm trees.
