Yes, it is true that it's a beta version and it has few bugs. But believe me, it's excellent. I've not tried Fire Fox (I don't like to waste space on my pc, when we've browser default why to go for other, imo) but the thing u need after installing IE 7 is to update it regularly. Give it a try. Ours is a education department and we have more than 50 computers. still now we have not faced any problem with ie7 (i guess due to frequent updates)

I use Firefox.
Fire fox is far superior to IE.
FF has less problems with spyware and if you have a slow internet connection tabbed browsing makes everything seem to work much faster.
FF also is not integrated into the Windows OS in such a way that it opens gaping wide holes into your security.

Haven't downloaded it, becasue it's still in beta mode and everyone I talked to has had problems with it, because microsoft still has a few bugs that need to be worked out of it.

i love it it combines firefox with the old internet explorer
