Our baby drinks the Similac with low Iron (green wording on the lable). Our physician recommended it because our child has a very hard time passing bm - she gets constipated a lot. Iron is a contributor to that, so she has low iron to help.

No iron is not good because babies need it in their blood for transporting oxygen through the bloodstream. Did your dr tell you to have no iron in the formula?? I don't think anything is sold over the counter, but maybe your dr has some - it will cost you, though!!

There is. I know similac makes one. Now your doctor won't agree with it but the truth is your baby is born with enough iron to last for 6 to 9 months. SO, you'll want low iron. If you are doing this so it won't be constipated make sure you don't totally deprive the baby of iron all together because it is a necessary mineral for proper health.

All brands carry formula that is not "loaded " with iron, but call your doctor first. If the baby is having issues with the formula try soy based and gas drops

yeah all of them have a formula with out. Isomil, Similac, Enfamil you just need to look. However it is recommend the baby get iron so if you get one of those formulas they ask that you give iron drops. It just won't be at every feeding

not no iron just low iron if it isn't advertising with iron it is a low iron formula

if you truely needed a no iron formula for a baby with a health condition you would need a specialized formula by Rx

Several milk-based formulas (for example, Similac (Ross Pharmaceuticals) and Enfamil (Mead Johnson Pharmaceuticals)) were marketed under two varieties-"low iron" and "high iron." (Some parents have inaccurately called "low iron" formulas "no iron"-no such product exists.) http://www.medicinenet.com/infant_formulas/page2.htm

Iron fortified formula is essential for formula-fed babies unless your doctor recommends otherwise. A deficiency in iron at this stage can have enormous long term affects on your child - see http://www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com/iron-supplements-for-infants.html

You should really speak to your doctor about this.

Yes, but you *need* to talk to your doctor and a nutritionist as well before using it. No iron in baby's diet can cause serious damage, including permanent brain damage. Don't risk it.

Yes, there is. If the label doesn't say for instance "Enfamil w/Iron", there is no iron in it. Just read the labels.
