No position yet.
You're a big kid for 15 -

and that tells me and any other coach 2 things:

your flexibility and coordination are not completely developed.

your speed and control are diminished.

I see aswers here like Defensive end - you better be able to break 5 flat in the 40 yard sprint and break a tight ends jaw as a new guy.
or Linebacker - you've never played the game before - wrong answer.
Linebacker needs to understand what the offense is doing - that requires some time in the game.

Get yourself into some type of cardio-vascular shape starting today with jogging.

Make sure you stretch very well before and after.

Then go out for the team.
My guess is the coach will place you on Offensive line to begin with - if you're flexible and quick...you may get moved to Defensive line.

Either way...study the play book. Understand your position assignments and responsibilities.
When you grow into your body...next year or so...you'll be ready for bigger better things.

But let the coach place you first...play where he needs you most.

I played 5 years of college at Middle Linebacker
coached high school, college and now semi-pro.
thats how I would start you if you played for me.

If I was your coach and I know you never played the sport before, I'd first see how tough you are to take solid tackles without a whimper. Meaning I'd let the team try to tackle you as a receiver and running back. Then I'd check your speed. You say you're fast, but the hare said the same thing against the turtle. I'd check to see if you're good at quarterback but I sense you to be more adapt in a tight end position in the offense and a middle linebacker on the defense. Size and weight to block and receive, size and weight to chase and tackle.

You would make a good linebacker because of your size. But I'm not a football player and, since you're still only 15, there might be better positions for you to play. Maybe defensive or offensive line or running back/fullback.

Probably offensive or defensive line. If you're fast, you might be able to play linebacker.

holy crap. your that big at that age? Is it all fat, or muscle? If you are just a fat boy (no offense) then lineman. If it is all muscle, then anything else...safety, receiver, wideout, qb, whatever.

Personally, I don't believe your size, but who knows? When I was 15 I was like 5'10" and 135 pounds maybe, after eating a whole pizza!

I would say a DE, because we had a all-star DE last year who was excellent and he was 6'3" 243 lbs, so if youre going to the 10th grade, i think a defensive end or TE if youre really quick.

Doesn't matter what you want to do, you're going to be on the offensive line, son.

well. you should probably. play either DL or linebacker.

for defense. you need to be quick. fast is a an added bonus, but being quick is key to defense. i would do some back peddles, shuffles, and jump rope.

hit the wieghts. do bench press, squat, shoulder press, curls (for the ladies), pull ups, situps, and regular push ups. dont go for a huge max, but go for reps.

you wont be. ready to play. but you will be in shape. football isnt just being big, fast, and strong. its having knowledge about the game. and knowing your position well. but the most important part. is your passion for the game. you can never succeed, if your heart isnt in the game.
