You need a license to drive a car, but any d*ck can make a baby, that doesn't mean he'll be a good father.

clarification: only people who would be good, loving parents *should* be raising kids. Criminals, pedophiles, dead-beats should not. Does that help?

And who do you think ought to decide who "should" be raising kids? What kind of license would guarantee good parenting? Most drunk drivers have driver's licenses, so that's obviously not the complete answer.

lol. I love that, "any d i c k can make a baby". It's so true though, I know so many people that are horrible parents and I just wish I could help but I can't. I know someone who is 21 and she has 7 year old daughter, so she had her kid at 14. I couldn't imagine that happening to me at that age. If only the loving parents and not the rapists, molesters, etc.. were parents this country would definitely be better. I admit, my father was a deadbeat dad. I honestly don't know what he looks like. It hurts thinking about it but then it hurts even more to know that there are so many other people out there without a father.

Thats a good idea. And to all those people who are asking "who decides who gets to have kids?" maybe if you go to college or get more than a certain percent on your SATs or something you get to have kids. Just a thought. Or maybe a baby test. Where you have to take a test about raising children. And if you fail, you dont get to have kids. Although there probably would be a lot of fighting about a test like that. Just because people have different ideas about how you should raise children.

Whatever you do, you would not want to encourage infanticide. Abortions would be encouraged but not infanticide.

Life isn't so simple any more.
Who can decide who is the better parent? Or who is allowed to be one?
A friend sent me this:
"TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking .
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Inter! net chat
rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents .
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!"

Keanu Reeves in Parenthood said that best. And, while yes, it is true that any d*ck can make a baby, it is that way for a reason. Without involving religion . . . how boring would life be without those people who have been raised by said parents and have taken their crappy childhood and have done something real with their lives? Life cannot be lived without those imperfections in order to be truly appreciated.

Seems the whole idea of family is outmoded. How dare a child stand in the way of progress. Men must inseminate. It appears that men could careless that they are leaving their children for someone else to raise. Progress...therein lies success.

Productivity without accountability...Bring forth the whores!!

for sure it would be a much better place but it's not for us to decide. but don't just pick on the dad's. there are many women (& girls) who have children who do not make good moms either. it's the poor kids who suffer the most from the stupid decision of these people to reproduce. i just hope that people give alot of thought to it when they decide to bring a child into this world.

Maybe. But who decides who should raise kids. Even though it sounds good no one should have a right they were born with taken away.

I think each every person is able to evaluate theirself to figure out whether they should have a kid. If they arent certain that they should be then they should wait until they are. We aren't going to be getting a shortage of kids anytime soon. If a person never finds theirself to be ready then there are plenty of volunteer organizations to work for.

Good question. Yes i think it would. The drop out rate would probably change. Less abortions. No more kids having kids.
