He's gone, just look at poor Lisa Marie, she saw his dead body... no dad would ever do that to their kid just to "get out of it".

He's alive in a trailer park in Kentucky living the simple life off the royalities. Lisa Marie knows and visits him regularly.

I think he really did die, because there is no way he could stay out of the public eye for that long. It's his spirit and songs that stays alive.
