Ohh we don't "hate" the French, we just detest their government. The French have let other countries sway them to do stupid things in the past century, and I for one, am tired of my country having to bail them out so they can do it all over again. The French government doesn't have a backbone. But thats ok, they are about to be overrun by Muslim extremists, so it won't matter much anyway. The French blood has been dilluted by so many conquerers having at their women over the years that I suppose it has just become a way of life for them.

Because Monsieur Bush started pointing fingers at France for not supporting his war...and since most Americans were tense and scared (yes SCARED) after 9/11, they viewed any nation that didn't support the war on terror as a potential attacker on U.S. territory, so they simply followed monsieur Bush's theories...but the fact is many nations opposed the war...not just les Francais!!!!
I'm American, and I actually like the French (even though they do stand a little too close when talking to you ,lol)

Ok, americans dont hate the FRENCH, they hate FRANCE.

Personally, I have no problemswith french people, ive known quite a few who are great people.

But the country is a different issue.

Ever since Louix XIV (14), france has been margenalized, except for a short period under napoleon.

Prior to that French was the language of deplomacy. Then tehy lost thier colonies in the americas. Then napoleon got his but kicked. Then the world wars.

After WWII France was nothing, they had been completely conquered and contributed next to nothing to the winning of the war (French underground helped, but thats it).

Never the less, their president, DeGaule (spelling is wrong) insisted on equal victors right. The result was thier veto power and perminant status in the security council, in the UN.

Ever since, dued to its lack of power, it has done everything in its power to thwart the U.S. From one sidedly condemning the Israelis and ignoring the palistinians, to obstructing both bushes in both gulf wars, to delaying the use of force in the balkans.

The french discovered that the only power they had was in sticking it in the U.S's eye.

They discovered that if they support U.S. enemies, they will be safe from attack from them, while they know full well the U.S will never attack them. They insist on takingthe middle, safe ground, in order to gain power and protect themselves.

Add to that their arrogance. For example, they refuse to use any owrd that is not french in origin. While some words have snuck in, they refuse to recognize the term E-mail, because it is english.

A few months ago they actually walked out of an E.U meeting because one of hte diplomats had the nerve to make a speech in enlish, and not inthe official language - guesswhat that is, yep its French.

would you like me to continue? O.K., how about the fact that their unions insist on the most vacation days of any country in the world. Did you read about the issue wit hchanging the laws concerning employing people under 25? They shut down paris because the Gov't passed a law saying that an employee under 25 could be fired for any reason within thier first two years of employment. They have a sense of privilage that is misplaced and leads to economic stagnation and then blame the U.S. for its capitalistic policies.

It's not the people we hate, it is their policies.

"The Americans" don't exist. Some Americans are upset with the French because of some of their political views. If you want a serious answer, why can't you be serious with your question?

Because they are too passive and do not stand up against anything!!!!!

They were on the receiving end of very profitable deals with S.Hussain and did not want him to be removed from power. They chose money over decency.

And besides, frech fries are like totally fattening!!!!

Mostly because of their "better than you" attitude, and lack of gratitude for past allegiances that saved their butts, but also because of their opposition to US fighting terrorism, while having secret deals behind our backs with the enemy.

Maybe because France didn't support us. France wants our protection and America to be on their side, yet they do not want to be on our side and help us.
