I inherited my Mothers 5 yrs old Bull terrier named Adam. I promised to care for it ,just as well as she had. That was three and a half years ago.
The problem is that my son is three and a half years old and he got ruff with Adam (pulled hard on his ears)Adam responded by nipping and my three and a half year old son pulled away (i think)and it tore his skin (no stitches need)
MY question is ......will this reck there relatonship?if it did ,what would i do?I promised my late mother i would look after Adam for his remaining years..IS there any danger to my son ?or the dog?
Note:I DONTleave them alone together, but my husband forgets sometimes......................

A promise is a promise, HOWEVER, should you place a dog's needs over your toddler son's? I think you know the answer to this. You did the best you could, now give the pooch a more suitable home. Your son and your late mother's dog will thank you for it... Quite frankly I don't think she would've asked had she known it would've placed her grandchild in jeopardy. Also, I've been there. Are you hanging onto your mother by hanging onto her dog? Time to let go. ;)

I think it's probably OK. Just teach your son the correct way to pet a dog. The dog probably just got irritated with the ear pulling, any dog would.

Take care of your son. Forget the dog.
