Of course it isn't ever too late. Kids start various sports at different ages. Sometimes they switch sports so they are new to the new sport.
You will not be surrounded by kids much younger than you. You will be put in a beginning level for your age group.
Soccer is very fun and popular. There is swimming, golf, baseball, softball, tennis, track, basketball, volleyball and so many more. You should do some research on the sports available in your area and see which one excites you the most.
Go have fun!

No Dear, it's never too late to join in on a sport as long as you're physically well enough. Just before starting a new sport, be sure to go to your doctor and have a physical to make sure you're healthy enough to play. If it turns out you're healthy enough, go for it. It is fun and a good way to stay in shape. If you wanted my suggestion on a sport, volleyball is a good starter. That's what I started with and I am none whatsoever athletic. Tennis and badmitton are also good beginnings. But, if you're looking for the down and dirty, SOCCER SOCCER SOCCER! It's fun and basically anyone can play if they are willing to learn the rules. Basically any sport will work.

I'd go for it - if you live near a large metropolitan city, there's always groups forming for beginners. I have no idea how old you are, but I learned to play soccer when I was 25 and almost all the girls on my team (it was coed) had never played soccer before. Sports Monster is a good league to start with.
If you're not that athletic, you might find something like yoga - it's not competitive and it's easy on your body (no sudden movements. you will be sore if done properly!).

if you join a sport and people embarass you they are not good team players, play some soccer or soft ball if a guy play baseball.
You should play sports just make sureyou are on time for the tryouts and each practice or game. good luck.

Yes, if you're 80 you shouldn't start playing football.
If you're not athletic and younger than 80, try bowling, golf, competitive eating, or maybe (if you're feeling risky) softball or volleyball. Otherwise stick to your old habits.
