a warning sign that said, "High levels of Hydrogen"

Should I go to the doctor? What will it do to me!? I'm freakin' out, man!

Somebody was messing with you. Or maybe part of the sign was missing...like hydrogen peroxide or something. That might be very bad. If your skin turns a different color, you might want to get it checked out.

There are twice as many ATOMS of hydrogen than oxygen. Oxygen atoms are bigger and weigh about 16 times as much as a single H atom.

As for the sign, probably nothing. It's like a saying that there is too much Nitrogen in the atmosphere.

Dihydrogen monoxide is what we labelled the water bottle in my old lab as. Funny stuff.
But seriously, pH, the antilogarithm of hydrogen ion concentration in a solution. Its called acid. The fountain may have had a slightly low pH. I doubt if its anything to be concerned about. Water can have pH swings that are measurable, but not noticable to our senses. If it was a pH that was low enough to cause side effects you would have suffered them prior to posting this question. Unless of course it was hydroflouric acid, and you will wake up tomorrow with some big problems. The likelyhood of that is one in several million, and is grounds for a lawsuit. HF acid is used in limited applications and is highly controlled.

That is a joke. There isn't more hydrogen in water that comes out of any fountain and if it did...it is a gas and wouldn't hurt you.

Of course, if you did chemistry in school you'd know that the formula for water is H2O. There are two elemental moles of hydrogen for every oxygen. Making the reknown water molecule. So, don't be worried.

You joker, you!

Water = two parts Hydrogen, one part oxygen.

Unless it smelled bad there and tasted like rotten eggs - then it could be hydrogen sulfide, bad stuff, see a doctor.

unless part of the sign was missing the only risk is if there was a flame source. hydrogen won't hurt you.

Are you sure? It should have said "High Levels of Hydrogen Dioxide!" Be afraid...be very afraid...

Well it was water, right?

There's TWICE as much Hydrogen as there is Oxygen.

might be the water itself ... water contains 2 hydrogen atoms. someone was just messing with you!
