The first gambling establishments were probably saloons built around 1905 which burned down a year or two later. From 1909 to 1931 gambling was outlawed. The El Rancho was the first resort casino built in 1941. The Flamingo was built in 1946 by "Bugsy" Siegel. The Moulin Rouge Hotel and Casino was built in 1955 by Joe Louis and was the first integrated casino in Vegas. Another early casino was the Golden Nugget. I'm there were others that followed. The Riviera Hotel and Casino was the first "Top Notch" Casino in Vegas . The Sands came along in that era also.
