I am not aware of one. However the U.S. Labor department has stipulated that employers can impose certain procedures as to payroll, i.e. what hours, if I.D. is required, etc.

I don't get a check. My employer requires direct deposit. I'm positive there is now law requiring ID to get your check. I'm also sure your employer has the right to require it. At a nuclear plant, you probably need the ID just to enter the plant. Why would showing it to payroll be a problem?

There is no law that requires you to show an ID to receive a paycheck. There is a Federal law that requires you to show an ID to get on the payroll when you first get employed.

I don't know about it being a federal law but you can be sure the feds had something to do with it. I know at banks you need your DL or state ID # to open an account but once they know you you can cash a check without any ID. I know how you feel, it's an intrusion by the government to condition you for what's to come.

This must be a big deal to you. I would think after 6 years the paymaster would know you. If it makes this country safer and keeps bad guys at bay...I will show my ID...you can always find an employer that does not require ID...can't you?

Not unless they have one just for nuclear plants,

It sounds more like a company policy to insure the correct person gets thier check.
