It probably depends on which culture you are talking about or is it women in general?
I guess in some cultures, women are still seen as inferior to men, maybe its a stereotypical aspect of their culture itself or maybe because of religion. Religiously, maybe it was because adam was made before eve and so he and men appear to be the dominant one. Also maybe because of strength.
But in the western society, women aren't seen that inferior anymore. Women are now more independent and are rather self-sufficient. Maybe its because men have always been stereotypically classified as the 'breadwinner' of the household, society and times have changed and so I think women have more equal rights now than they did before.

Yes we are thought of as less than men. Men still dominate the workforce, especially positions as heads of companies, CEO's and board of directors. Women in the US are paid .75 cents to every $1.00 men make.

I DON'T THINK SO-- I ACTUALLY FIND MYSELF STRESSED OUT TRYING TO PROVE TO MYSELF THAT I DON'T NEED A MAN, AND I CAN'T STAND ASKING FOR HELP ON A BILL, EVEN THOUGH I'M MARRIED. I HAVE THE BILLS AND EVERYTHING SET UP SO THAT IF HE LEFT ME--I'D PRETTY MUCH BE OK-- I WATCHED 2 MARRIAGES AFTER 20 YEARS FALL APART AND THE WOMEN WERE LEFT WITH NOTHING. I ACTUALLY THINK THAT THE MEN THESE DAYS HAVE IT EASIER, ATLEAST THE FRIENDS IN MY CIRCLE DO---BILLS ARE PRETTY MUCH SPLIT IN HALF, I BET MEN 20-30 YEARS AGO WOULD'VE LOVED THAT.

Yes they are.
The USA deems women unfit for combat duty in the army.
Consider: the potential draft is only extended to males, women are not required to register for "selective service" only males are.[1]
