umm....I have no idea. Maybe Howard Dean can answer than for you. They seem to be a little busy trying to lock up the black and Hispanic votes right now. If this site is any indication, Christians are not a favored people on the left.

I know a lot of Christian Democrats. And for the record, there is a difference between being Liberal and being a Democrat. The two often coincide, but they are not the same thing.
But the other guy is right, the DNC figures they can count on your votes; they don't have to court you back every term. So they focus on recruiting new Democrats, namely Hispanics and other immigrants.
As far as that crack about Republicans focusing on the left, they do that because they don't have much of a choice. Look at all the prominent Democrats right now -- Hillary, Al Gore, Howard Dean. When they have a conservative Democrat like Leiberman, they push him into the background.
You must also remember where most of the DNC's funding comes from. Liberal groups like Planned Parenthood, private donors from George Soros to David Geffen. They control the purse, they control the rhetoric. Simple as that.

Because they ignore 90% of Democrat's. Not saying 90% are religious but they tend to focus on what make's the dem's look bad, like Cyndi Sheehan, Michael Moore, etc. They'd rather talk about the idiot who said Bush faked Zarcawi's death than the one's that know what they're talking about. Christian Democrat's go against their talking point that all liberal's are GODless and evil.
cirque_de_lune- There's a reason those Democrat's are "prominent" as you say.. It's because the media focuses on them.. Joe Lieberman ran for pres in the last election, I'd call him a prominent democrat. What about Barrack Obama, Harold Ford, and Richardson. There's some more for you.. There are plenty they could talk about, they choose not to..

To get votes. If they can convince someone that they can't be a Christian and a Democrat, than they can persuade those people to vote Republican. It's pathetic in my opinion. I'm a Christian and a Democrat and I always will be.

Because the Repubs have claimed God for their own.
I'm not sure we have the same God anyway.
I'm from the left, my God says 'Thou shalt not kill' -
I know, bring up the war, what about all the executions?
Texas has had more executions than all the other states
combined - nice going george bush -
Yes, I mean when he was governor - only the God he invented,
would approve of such behavior.
It's like they have a religion of their convenience.

The people who you call the christian democrats were the southern democrats. Over time, this group of people has changed their party affiliation to better match their beliefs.

republicans tend to see their relationship with god, rurally, as a communal thing and thereby organizable for power. democrats tend to see an individual's relationship with god as personal, and not so much subject to external political influence. the 'political machine' doesn't have much business trying to organize individual moral relationships with god in order to impose 'their group's god's will' on the rest of us. anyone from any faith should become suspicious when 'christain' leaders start speaking for god.

It would ruin the world's view of us as immoral citizens.
"The moral test of government is how that government treats those in the dawn of life, the children; those in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy, and the handicapped." -Hubert H. Humphrey
