It depends on how badly you're burnt and how well you take care of it. There are 2 levels of sunburn, 1st degree and 2nd degree. 1st degree sunburn is basically just red skin that's sensitive. Use aloe gel and stay out of the sun and it should be gone in about 6 days. 2nd degree sunburn has bistlers and will hurt much more. For that you do NOT want to put any gel, cream, or anything on it as it can lead to infection. For 2nd degree your best bet is to use something like Lanacaine spray as it numbs the pain and is a disinfectent. 2nd degree sunburn can last about 2 weeks. Unfortunatly there is really nothing a doctor can do for sunburn so you have to use painkillers if you're having difficulty with the pain. For that anti-inflamatory medicines are best, such as aleeve or the generic ibuprofin, since the sunburn causes tissue to swell and that causes some of the pain. Avoid heat and sun as much as possible while you're still healing and limit exposure for a few weeks afterwards. Also ensure you're eating healthy so your body has the nutrients to rebuild the skin.

How is sunburn treated? It may help to: Soak in a cool bath. It may help to add bath products containing oatmeal to help decrease itching and the burned feeling. Put cool, moist cloths on the sunburned skin several times a day. Take an anti-inflammatory medicine, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. It will help the sunburn be less painful. It may also lessen the damage to your skin, especially if you start taking it when you first suspect you are sunburned. Carefully follow the directions on the package for taking the medicine. Put aloe vera lotion or another moisturizing lotion on your skin 3 times a day for 2 days. Put calamine lotion on your skin to lessen the itching. Take antihistamine tablets, such as Benadryl. Taking the tablets may cause you to become drowsy. Do not drive or operate machinery or equipment while you are taking this medicine. If you have just a few shallow blisters, treat them like a minor household burn. You can apply some antibiotic ointment, such as bacitracin, and then cover the blistered area with a bandage. Don't try to open the blisters. Let them open on their own, when the underlying skin can better protect itself from infection. If you are not sure about how severe your blisters are or if they are becoming infected, check with your health care provider. Signs of infection are increased redness or pain, and yellow discharge from the blisters. How long will the effects last? The symptoms of sunburn usually worsen 24 to 48 hours after you are burned. The symptoms gradually go away over the next few days. Sunburn causes long-term damage to the skin. Redness alone is the same as a first-degree burn. Redness with blistering is a second-degree burn. Both types of sunburn are harmful to the skin and over time increase the risk of skin cancer. Blistering burns increase the risk of malignant skin cancer (melanoma) by several times. This is especially true if you have severe sunburns 3 or more times when you are a teen or young adult. Too much sun exposure, even without sunburn, also causes the skin to age faster. Wrinkles, sagging, and brown sunspots develop at an earlier age

Sunburn usually hangs around for about six and a half days, after the third day usually it will no longer hurt.

To treat the sunburn use "Aloe Vera" it is a gel from the Aloe plant, it helps your skin heal faster, not peel, and not hurt as much.

To feel better for the first few days wear baggy clothing, maybe even your pajama pants or shorts because the elastic around the waist in pajamas is usually really stretchy and not tight.

Should be better in a couple of days up to a week depending on how severe of a burn. Aloe Vera helps greatly. You buy it at most stores near where the lotions are. The are lotions specificly for sunburns but they usually cost more $ & the first ingredient in them is always aloe vera. Good luck & I hope you feel better sonn I know sunburns can be painful Ouch!

You have quiet a lot of good solutions there. Besides aloe vera, try mixing 2 drops of frankincense and a drop of patchouli into let's say 1 tablespoon of aloe. The oils are good for skin-healing, especially when your skin goes rather dry when you have sunburns. Try doing a patch-test first and see you have any reaction in 24hrs before you apply all over.

I does depend on how bad the sunburn is. Put some aloe vera lotion on it or gel. It will take some of the redness away and pain. Keep putting on sunscreen when you go outside to keep it from getting worse.

depends on how bad the burn is. You need to keep it moisturized. If you have aloe, use it alot. It could take about 5 days for it to go away, but it will most likely peel too.
