Metallica is NOT over-rated. It's just that people were pissed when their Black Album came out, they had songs like "Enter Sandman" and "Nothing Else Matters" that appealed to the masses. God forbid a band becomes famous, oh no, that's "selling out". And while they aren't as good as they used to be, they made some really great songs like "Fuel" and "St. Anger".
That said, Korn is the most overrated. THEY SUCK. I'll admit, I like songs like "Freak on a Leash", but they have NO musical talent. Johnathan Davis became a real poser. Their new songs, "Twisted Transistor" and "Coming Undone", are not only void of any skillful guitar playing, they're neither catchy or have good melodies. Next on the list might be Disturbed. Yeah, I bet I could become famous if I re-did the same song over and over, and packaged it as a single. How about some diversity?

The Rolling Stones.... I know they aren't really "metal" but that is the group that came to mind as being totally overrated.
