The answer is C. I think they decided to call substances "oxidizing agents" because they resemble the action of Oxygen. By the way, who is buried in Grant's tomb?

the answer to this question is C-oxygen is the oxidizing agent in both combustion and corrosion
we can prove this because when irn get's rusted it is called oxidation and it is called combustion the substance burns in oxygen to give a new product.

D..... Oxygen in both situations loses electrons which means it is oxidized....so that makes it the reducing agent.

I'm like 97% sure on this...Senior Biochemistry student here

C, oxygen is an oxidizer, it will not reduce under normal circumstances.

and to answer another poster here, it's a techniciality. Grant is not buried in Grant's Tomb. He is "entombed" there. There is a difference. (I read it online once)
