Are you depressed because you are new in town and don't know anyone or were you depressed before you came to town? Perhaps your depression will lift when you get to know some people your age. If you can get involved in a local youth group at your church, YMCA or Parks and Recreation Center.
Also please talk to your parents. As the other people who have responsded have said your parents have your best interests at heart. They won't know unless you tell them how you are feeling.

First of all, ask yourself these questions:
Why am I depressed?
What can I do to stop it myself?
And think of conversation starters for you and your parents. Depression is serious and the minute you feel it, tell you parents.

I know it dosn't sound easy---but just tell them sweetie! I mean, just say ''I'm afraid to tell you this so don't give me any grief please but I'm really depressed and think I need some medicine'' the worst they will do is ask you what you're depressed about. Good luck.

Why are you afraid to tell them? If you could explain then I could give you a better answer as to what to do. Depression is something that can be genetic, so chances are one of your parents suffer from it. They may be sympathetic to your feelings.

Dear Little Girl:
Would it help if you wrote them a letter? I'm in Nebraska and would do anything possible to help you. If you tell me your town by IM I would get the name and number of a minister with whom you could talk. I promise I would talk to them first and make certain they would be kind and considerate. Please act. We're all pulling for you.

when it comes down to it....you're the one who decides how your life is going to turn out. i k now when you're younger, you kind of feel like you need approval for everything (trust me..i still feel that way)...but honestly, if you want help, you can get it.
but do other things first...you dont want to be a zombie walking around on medication all the time....4real exercise will help you and find something that makes you want to get up every day

I don't think you should be terrified. Your parents love you and want to help you.
Realize depression is an illness and not something you get because you did something wrong.

Talk to a trusted adult who will tell your parents with you. This will help in trust and they will be dealing on an adult level. Do you have an older aunt or neighbor who you can trust? If so, go talk to them and ask them to help you. You need it honey. Mom and Dad will listen to another adult and won't believe that you're trying to get attention. go ahead....do it! You need help! god bless you.
