I like to ask "have you picked names for twins?", but that darn ultrasound akes all the fun out of needling women...

Good names might be "Mutt and Jeff"? How about "Huey, Dewey and Louie"?

Really, though, it's only fun to tease someone if they know you're kidding and they don't get offended by it. Why would someone be offended about twins - or is it because of the implication that you're big?

Just remember what Winston Churchill told one of the ladies... "Mister Churchill, you're drunk!" "And you madam, are ugly. And tomorrow, I shall be sober..."

In a few months, you'll be normal size and happier than them.

I would simply and politely let them know that you do not wish to discuss your personal life and then ask how you can help them. Or shift the focus by talking about their retail needs. Example: "Wow! Are you having twins?" Answer: "Maybe, but I can really see you with a 77 inch plasma TV (or whatever products you work with). Let's take a look at some right over here!"

I hope the rude remarks are the worst part of your pregnancy and your baby's birth and after the baby comes, it won't matter what anyone said.

"May the road rise to meet your feet.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your fields.
May you have a happy song within your heart.
May there be a smile on every face you meet.
May you have love to warm your heart, and plenty more to share." - Old Irish blessing

Take it easy and may God bless and keep you and your family.

This is something that's hard for me to believe. You must just be in an area of the world where people are rude! I'm 5 months pregnant with twins, and people have never said anything like that to me! And, when I was asked by anyone in my previous pregnancies, people just asked when I was due, if I knew what I was having - and said congratulations. Even a week before I gave birth to a 10 pounder.

Personally, just cry. Or act like you're going to. Normally I tell people just to outrightly say "how rude" - but working in the retail business years ago, I know you can't say that. I would just let it be known that it hurt your feelings. I'm one of those who can cry at the drop of a hat, and then laugh when the back is turned.

People will always be quick to tell you what they think especially when you are pregnant, it never fails! I know its hard not to listen to them but ignoring them and knowing that you are beautiful and the perfect size is something you will have to remember. Since you work in retail there is really no way to tell people to quit being ignorant! It wont be long and you will be on maternity leave, just hang in there! and congrats!

people did that to me when i was pregnant with my first, I just carry my babies out in front, not in back. Being the emotional pregnant person I was, I cried when people would ask that. I completely understand. I am now 35 weeks and someone asked me that for the first time on Saturday.

Just ask them, "so when are YOU due?"
(and they'll say "Oh im not pregnant")
so say " oh you certainly look like it!"
