Before I can just recharge it whenever?

When NiCd rechargables first came out, they seemed to have a problem with "charge memory," which said that if you let the battery completely die, it would never fully recharge to 100% again. These days, it's not much of an issue since the batteries are better made. And, since a lot of people carry a cell phone for emergencies, you wouldn't want it to die in the middle of an actual emergency, right? I'd say go with what the manufacturer says - when the battery starts to get low, put it on the charger, before it gets so low that it could totally die out on you.

usually batteries last around 1000 charges or so before kicking the bucket.

it is not good to let your batt die alltogethre before you charge it

whater u want depends on how dadly u need to use ur phone. i charge mine when there is one bar left.
