No. It's not wierd. We name all our fish. We have a fantail goldfish and two 'regular' goldfish. We've had the fantail for nine years--honest. He is about six inches long. His name is Timothy Fish. He's named after Timothy Turtle that one of my kids had when he was four years old. Timothy Turtle got sick and "had to go to the turtle hospital ." When he 'came home from the hospital,' my son was looking at him and asking him if he felt better. Then my little boy looked at me and said, "Timothy must feel better because he doesn't look the same any more."
It was several years before my son realized I had replaced his turtle with a live one. So when this fish'es partner died, my son--same one--named him Timothy Fish.
Our other two fish are named Angel (because (s)he's white) and King Picadilly (because he looks like he is wearing a gold crown).

i named one of my fish napoleon, and another one akari(after an artist i like). i dont think it's weird to name fish. they're a pet aren't they? =)
then again, i did have some goldfish that were named bubba and booger. goldfish are the dirtiest fish you know. figured i'd give them some hick names to go along with them.

Why won't you just call it an easy fish name like Swimmy,Fishy, or Goldilocks(your fish is a kind of goldfish right).

We have a Betta named Staka and a Water Snail named Stuta. (my 4 year old came up with the names)...
How about
Fannie? (y'know--- like the FAN-tail)
Goldie? (Like GOLD-fish)
nevermind... lame fish names...
My 4 year old tells me you should name your fish: "Fishy-fish"
(yes, I actually asked him and that was his real answer)...
