Personally I like Deep Purple the best because I am a keyboard player. Although when you want to rock, just plain old fashioned rock the house, it doesn't get any better than Back in Black or Shook Me All Night Long. I am glad that both bands have given us such great, classic music!

Deep Purple; the "classic" incarnation (Ian Gillian on vocals). As with Zepp, they were informed by classical music and the blues and had a whole helluva lot more "music" in their music than most groups of the period! AC/DC is certainly good at what they do, but much more limited in scope.
As to the bass tabs inquiry - listen to what you like and figger out how to play it. Any attempt at writing down music is gonna lose something in the translation. I forget who it was that said: "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture.", but they were right.
