I have a dell computer running win98 with DSL and I have a second with winXP.I want to connect the two by using the 1st as a source for internet access.I have a network hub(5-port)already.Also is it possible to connect the two together without establishing internet connection with an ethernet cable?

create the small office network from win xp system write down the chose a workgroup (any name) then finish up the wizard

then right click on microsoft n/w neighbourhood on win 98 system then put the workgroup name(same name on xp)....

u can share files and files will be able on the n/w neighbourhood option
thats all ,u can use ur internet from winxp ----> win98

You can see both computer via peer to peer connection. Just give both pcs same group name and different pc names. After that share files that you want to see and modify by setting the permissions in sharing wizard. You might not be able to see winxp unless you are admin through 98 but you will be able to see 98 just fine with xp.

You can connect the two via a wireless router set, found at popular chain electronics shops. From there, you can use Yahoo Messenger to "send files" from one to the other (both would have to have an YM account to do this).

Or you can burn the files on a CD and transfer them manually.
