He's not going to admit anything! While every ones attention has been on the Israel- Lebanon conflict, Bush has sent more troops to Iraq!
He is a blowhard and the wind in his sails is all from Rove, Cheney and Conglomerates that profit every day of this war.

Is Iraq in a civil war....I don't think so......also apparently neither does the Iraqi government.
Have we failed in Iraq.....to soon to tell. If we pull the troops out now and leave it like it is, then yes I would say we have failed.
There are a lot of good things that happen over there as well, unfortunately they are overshadowed by all the negative. (which yes there is more of) My husband has been over in Iraq for a year, so I have been told by someone who has seen those good things first hand.
However there is a very long way to go.

There certainly is a lot of crap going on in Iraq but it might be premature to call it civil war. Right now there are so many reasons for what is happening to characterize them all as civil war. On the other hand, it is beginning to look like a civil war will start eventually.
When countries have been held together be iron fisted dictators binding different ethnic groups together that have different views or perhaps have long simmering resentments from the past between these groups they will fight at the first opportunity. Like what happened in the former Yugoslavia.
Perhaps it would be better to partition the country along some lines or the other and make seperate states which could operate as thier populations see fit.. At least then war could be between countries rather than between neighbours.

If my husband's and my friends in Iraq say there's no civil war, and the elected officials of Iraq say there is no civil war, I'll believe them over anyone else. And they do say so, so I believe them, not the news reporters who aren't there.
Okay, so supposing a hundred deaths a day is a civil war. Iraq has a population of 26,783,383 according to the CIA fact page (link will be under sources). Now, take an area in the US that has about the same population, and add up how many deaths THEY have per day. For example, Washington DC has 80.6 firearm related deaths per month per 100,000 citizens.
Iraq is roughly twice the size of Idaho, BTW.
So how does the US add up to the number of deaths in Iraq?
War is war. People die in war. So if 100 people a day is bad, then what was WWII? How many died on D-day? A hundred deaths a day...sounds like war to me.
Yes, it's bad. But it's war.

The reason is the President doesn't want anyone saying the war in Iraq has intensified and is getting out of hand. He wants people to think that the war is under control and he is not to blame for starting the war in Iraq.

it would be politically disadvantageous to admit that your policy led directly to somthing you set into motion that could later be fairly described as civil war. the history of our country is similar and has very deeply embedded roots, such outcomes are deeply unfortunate and shameful. that the administration doesn't want to tell the american people the truth about what is going on in iraq and what we need to do and sacrifice as a country in order to bring those goals to fruition, is a sign that they don't trust us to decide for ourselves and make up our own minds. the iraqi people suffer while we make up our minds whether or not we are actually at war or not. if we are at war then a draft is coming because rummy screwed us but good. if we disengage (cut and run propaganda if you can stomach it) it will be because rummy screwed us but good. can i get an amen?

If there is a civil war in Iraq, what are the two factions? Can't name them can you?
We are there because we are helping them prop up a new goverment so we don't have to be there every ten to twenty years squashing another dictator.
The terrorists we are fighting there are not part of any organized government.

According to your definition of civil war, we must be having one too. The last I checked, more than 100 a day die here in the US.

If the leader of Iraq says there is no civil war, then I'm more inclined to believe him.
